Confidentiality and Us
Anything said to during our sessions is confidential. As health professionals we are also considered as mandatory reporters. This means we are ethically and legally responsible to report indications of suicide, self harm or intention to commit harm on another person. Under the Children and young Person's Act 1997, we are required to report indications of child abuse including domestic violence situations. We are also required to report any forms of illegal activity or in the even of a subpoena While we do not require to ask permission for reporting mandatory incidences, we will inform the client of our intention in a matter of good faith.

It is also required for all human service workers to seek service supervision, therefore cases may be discussed with supervising persons to ensure the client is receiving the best care and support they require. All counts of confidentiality will be maintained during the supervising consultation. If in the case we find the needs of our clients exceed our ability or qualification to help, we may be required to refer them to another organization, GP, Psychologist or Interventional Therapist. In these cases we do not have to share information, however professionally speaking, the more information the referred therapist or professional has the quicker changes can be made.
